Dr. Mhaned Oubounyt is a Junior Group Leader at the University of Hamburg, where he leads SysMedQC, an interdisciplinary research group at the intersection of systems medicine and quantum computing. SysMedQC develops hybrid classical and quantum computational methods and bioinformatics approaches for molecular data analysis, with the aim of advancing systems and precision medicine, improving disease characterization, and accelerating therapeutic discovery.
Dr. Oubounyt completed his PhD in computational biology through the Technical University of Munich and the University of Hamburg under the supervision of Prof. Jan Baumbach, graduating summa cum laude and receiving the German Bioinformatics Society's Best PhD Thesis Award. His research has contributed to network-based methods for single-cell and multi-omics data analysis. His current research focuses on classical and quantum computational methods for network biology, with applications in drug discovery, disease modeling, and precision medicine. He is based in Hamburg, Germany.
