Shelby Kimmel is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Middlebury College, where she enjoys engaging undergraduates in research and in the classroom. Her research focuses on the design and analysis of quantum algorithms and proving that they can outperform their classical counterparts.

She also creates efficient and accurate ways of characterizing errors in experimental quantum computers. Previously, she was a Hartree Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Maryland in QuICS - the Joint Center for Quantum Information and Computer Science. She earned a PhD in physics from MIT and a BA in astrophysics from Williams College.
