Dr. Kim Stackhouse-Lawson

Director, Colorado State University AgNext

Dr. Kim Stackhouse-Lawson is the Director of AgNext and a Professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University. Under her leadership, AgNext focuses on innovative solutions to improve the environmental, economic, and social resilience of animal agriculture. Her research portfolio includes greenhouse gas mitigation, improving resource efficiency, and the intersection of animal agriculture with climate change.

Prior to joining CSU, she served as the Director of Sustainability for JBS USA, where she developed and implemented global sustainability strategies across beef, pork, poultry, and value-added business units. She has also held key leadership roles at the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, where she led sustainability research and initiatives to enhance environmental stewardship and economic viability within the beef industry.

Dr. Stackhouse-Lawson earned her Ph.D. in Animal Biology from the University of California, Davis, and was a postdoctoral fellow at Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine Beef Cattle Institute. She is a sought-after speaker and advisor, frequently engaging with policymakers, industry stakeholders, and global organizations to drive meaningful progress in sustainable food production. She and her husband, Spencer, live in Colorado with their two sons, Weston and Callan.
