There are currently more than a quarter billion children who cannot read, write, or do basic math. This is a solvable problem.

Empowering all children to take learning into their own hands by 2030

In the Global Learning XPRIZE, awarded in May 2019, teams from around the world created open-source, scalable software solutions that enabled children in developing countries to teach themselves basic reading, writing and arithmetic within 15 months.

This demonstrated that innovative self-learning technology exists, it works, and now the technology and corresponding data are freely available for anyone to use and build upon.

But this represents just one vital piece of an overall movement to achieve universal access to quality learning. We need the software to be localized into many different languages; we need creative delivery models; and we need innovative and accessible hardware, to name a few.

Sign the pledge to become part of this critically important movement and find out how you can continue to support this global effort.
