HANIFA K.F. MPONJI

EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND EARLY LITERACY LEARNING SPECIALIST

Hanifa K.F. Mponji is a pre-primary school specialist with 26 years of experience in teaching and supervising teachers in practice. She is Head of the Center Mlimani Pre Primary at the University of Dar es Salaam, where she teaches and assesses young children’s development and early literacy learning country-wide. Ms. Mponji also assists and supervises undergraduate students practicing at the Center and counsels parents who have children with special needs.

Ms. Mponji was once a trainee in the GraphoLearn program which covers the latest scientific knowledge and practices on teaching literacy using phonetics and gaming. The program provided hands-on experience of reading assessment and intervention. Ms. Mponji also has experience in teaching literacy in early grades and how to use the GraphoGame Kiswahili (ICT technology) in teaching reading skills.

Ms. Mponji holds a GraphoLearning Diploma from the Niilo Maki Institute in Finland and received an M.A. in Education from the University of Dar es Salaam.
