John Giller

John Giller is the owner of Klamath Fire LLC, a wildland fire consulting and contracting company based in Klamath Falls, OR. Starting as a wildland firefighter in 1981, John has gained extensive fire, fuels and aviation management experience while serving in multiple leadership positions at the private, county, and federal level over the last 40+ years. In his last federal position, John served as the Director of Fire, Fuels and Aviation Management for both the Pacific Northwest and Alaska Regions of the US Forest Service (USFS) and Oregon/Washington Bureau of Land Management (BLM). John’s expertise includes complex incident management, incident aviation and ground operations, leadership and mentoring, operational risk management, and critical thinking.

With over two decades of service as a Type 1 National Incident Management Team member, John is considered an expert in Incident Management Operations in the United States. He has worked with many of our nation’s federal, state, and local agencies to prepare for, manage and recover from the most complex disasters including devastating wildfires, hurricanes, Avian Flu outbreaks, landslides, volcanoes, large scale public events, and man-made disasters like the World Trade Center attacks in 2001.

John has completed thousands of hours of leadership and management training. He is a graduate of Technical Fire Management (TFM) through Colorado State University, the British Columbia Air Attack Officers course in Kamloops, the Australia Strategic Command Training through AFAC/AIPM, and the Red Team Practitioners course through the University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies, Department of Defense, in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
