His career has been focused on his twin interests into both the theoretical and practical engineering sides of materials. Following an internship at aerospace company Airbus, designing and building equipment within the team evaluating new components for aircraft engines, his PhD research at the University of York was on advanced modelling techniques for polycrystalline materials. This unique experience around how to model grain boundaries gives us an ability to understand how defects manifest themselves in the manufacturing process and how to mitigate them.
Jonathan also has experience building and maintaining high performance computing platforms and has designed, built and maintained three systems over his career including a cluster at the University of Cambridge.
Jonathan has also run 100m in 10.8 sec.
